We hope to see you soon! Take good care of each other!
On Thursday, December 19th, we enjoyed a wonderful Christmas concert organized and led by our music teacher, Mr. Brion. We started with Patrick T. playing two piano pieces (“Super Smash” and “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy”) followed by Ms. Peter’s/Ms. Mahal’s class on violins playing “Away in a Manger” and “Ode to Joy”. The grade 6 mandolin boys were on mini accordions and yukeleles playing a “Ukrainian Bell Carol” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings”. Ms. Russel’s and Ms. Mazinani’s grade 3 and 4 students sang “Deck the Hall” and “Good Old St. Nick” with solos and three santas. Thien H. did a lovely piano solo (Canon in D Major) followed by the grade 2 and 3 students in Ms. Callegari’s, Ms. Younger’s, and Ms. Heinrich’s classes singing a rocky rendition of “Christmas Shopping Blues” and “La Fiesta de la Posada”. The grade 1 and 2 students in Ms. Labuda’s, Ms. Johnson’s, and Ms. Han’s class sang “Making Christmas Cookies” and “Run, Run, Reindeer”. The concert ended with the Kindergarten children from Ms. Cuthbert’s, Ms. Eaket’s, and Ms. Nijjar’s/Ms. Rakhra’s class singing “Days of the Week” and “There Was a Little Baby”. All the children did very well, and we are very proud of each one of them!
Berkshire has talent! We are so proud of every student from Kindergarten to Grade 7 who participated in the school wide musical. The singing and the acting were fantastic! The sets and costumes were amazing! We are thankful to so many for helping make this production such a huge success starting with PAC’s financial support, the hard work of the staff, and of-course the wonderful direction of our musical director, Nicole Stevens. Thank you Ms. Meynert and Ms. Younger for bringing this idea to us. It was a huge undertaking but worth every minute of it!
The Cast: The Ozians, Kansas, the Winkies, the Munchkins, the Jitterbugs, the Trees, the Crows, and the Poppies!
During the month of February, the students at Berkshire Park were divided into 4 groups according to their age and had two drumming lessons with Milton Randall. We enjoyed their mini concert including a conga line with parents and students. The students had a great time learning rhythm and beat, once again supported by PAC funds. Below is a couple of short video clips of two different age groups drumming.
The Christmas concert was a wonderful opportunity to show case our students’ talents. We enjoyed hearing students playing the recorders and the orff instruments as well as hearing violin and piano solos. It was also great to see a group of grade 4 students in division 8 play the violins under the direction of Mr. Brion, our music teacher.
